Achievements of UP Metro engineers in Kanpur Metro Project during lockdown
Due to the lockdown for the last one month, where government and private work have been affected, many development projects have also come to a standstill. But the work of the Kanpur Metro Project by UP Metro Rail Corporation UPMRC is going on at a fast pace.
During the lockdown, UP Metro carried out many difficult tasks related to civil construction in Kanpur Metro Project, such as the erection of steel span at Rawatpur Tiraha, construction of IIT and Geeta Nagar Metro station, starting the ballastless metro track casting, erection of 4 U-girder near about SPM metro station after raising high the 220 Kv HT power transmission line.

The survey has been started for the underground corridor ahead Motijheel in Kanpur Metro Project
First of all, let us tell you this, the work of under construction priority section from IIT to Motijheel of Kanpur Metro project is going on fast, while now the work of underground corridor in ahead of Motijheel is also going to start.
For this, Bhoomi Pujan has also been done on 22nd May 2021 and the work of utility survey has started at the stations of the proposed underground metro corridor from Chunniganj to Nayaganj. Sewer, water pipeline and electric, telecom cables will be traced and shifted or diverted as per the requirement.
The construction of underground metro stations at Chunniganj, Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha, and Nayaganj of Kanpur Metro Project will be done through a top-down system. With this system, the roof of the metro station will be ready in a short time. After this, the traffic will continue to move smoothly on the road above and the metro station will continue to be constructed below.
Under the top-down system, the roof of the underground metro station is first constructed. After the roof, the entire station, and finally the platform is constructed. It is also beneficial that as soon as the roof is built, 70 percent of the barricading done on the road is removed.
Now the route up to 7.5km is clear for track laying in Kanpur Metro Priority Section
In Kanpur Metro Project, the work of U-girders erection from IIT to Gurudev Chauraha has been completed. Now there is no gap in the Metro viaduct up to 7.5 Km in the Priority Corridor of Kanpur Metro.
